What are your policies and practices around insurance?
I am currently In-network with Aetna, United Health Care/Optum, Oxford, Oscar, UMR, Cigna- Evernorth, Magna Care, and Northwell Direct health plans. Coverage and out-of-pocket costs such as copayments and deductibles can vary depending on your specific plan and benefits. Before starting sessions, I’m happy to help you understand your coverage and estimate your cost per session so there are no unexpected fees.
What If my insurance isn’t listed above?
If your insurance provider is not listed above as in-network, you may still be able to use out-of-network benefits to cover a portion of your therapy costs. Many insurance plans offer partial or full reimbursement depending on your specific benefits. I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement. I’m also happy to discuss your options and help you better understand your coverage during a consultation call. If using insurance is not the right fit for you, private pay is always an option.
Do you offer private pay options?
Yes. Some clients choose not to use insurance for therapy, and that’s perfectly fine! For private pay clients, the standard session fees listed above apply. Before we start, you’ll receive a Good Faith Estimate outlining the expected costs of services so you can feel confident and informed with no surprises.
Do you offer low costs or sliding scale options?
I offer a limited number of sliding scale appointments based on availability. Please feel free to inquire about current openings during your consultation to explore if this option is the right fit for you.
What states do you provide services in ?
For therapy and clinical supervision services, I am licensed to work with clients located in New York and Virginia. Due to licensure requirements, you must be physically located in one of these states at the time of our sessions.
Professional Consultation services are different and can be provided more broadly. If you’re seeking professional consultation, we can work together regardless of your location.
How should I prepare for my first session?
Our first encounter will be during our consultation call where you will have the opportunity to share more about the areas you are hoping to work on as well as ask me questions that feel important for you. If you feel that we are a good fit following our consultation call, I will send you a link to my client portal where you will complete your intake forms and a few quick assessments. You do not have to prepare anything on the day of your appointment other than making sure you are in a private space and that your internet connection is stable. On the day of your appointment, you will get an email with a link and at the time of your appointment simply log on.
Do you assign homework, activities, or readings for me to do between sessions? Why or why not?
Homework is a great way to practice skills and to actively work towards your own growth and development in between sessions. If you are the type of person who enjoys homework, we can certainly make sure to incorporate this into our work. If the idea of homework is unappealing, don’t worry it is totally optional.
How participatory are you during sessions?
From day one, we will talk about what feels most important to you. You can expect that I will express curiosity, offer perspective, challenge you, provide support, and may at times share strategies to help you work through areas you may be feeling stuck in.
How will we know if I’m making progress?
Progress in therapy can look different for everyone and isn’t always linear. Together, we’ll regularly check in on your goals, your experiences, and any changes you’re noticing in your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Progress may show up as increased self-awareness, feeling more equipped to manage challenges, improved relationships, or a greater sense of clarity and confidence. We’ll keep the conversation open so we can adjust our work as needed and ensure it continues to feel meaningful and supportive to you.
Where did you work before going into private practice?
Prior to private practice, I held several leadership positions in the nonprofit sector including community mental health, child welfare and family work. I also spent several years on the front lines as a both a therapist for preschool & school aged children, young adults and a social worker for youth and families.
